A Championship with Purpose – The 2025 Ski World Championship in Trondheim highlights diversity and inclusion. Dale of Norway is proud to have developed the official championship sweater, where both the design and colors reflect these core values.
Trondheim 2025 Ski World Championships
The 2025 Ski World Championships isn’t just about competition; it’s about celebrating the values of community, inclusion, and equality.
At the heart of the campaign is the Norwegian saying "Vi er alle samme ulla", an Norwegian idiom that literally translates to 'we are all the same wool' but figuratively means 'we're all cut from the same cloth,' emphasizing our inherent similarities and shared human qualities.
To amplify this message, we’ve teamed up with two inspiring figures from Trondheim, Norway: Pernille Døsvik and Mushaga Bakenga. Together, we aim to use the 2025 Ski World Championship as an arena to promote unity, inclusion, and equality.
If everyone contributes just a little, we set the path for generations. After all, we are all cut from the same cloth.
Pernille Døsvik is an active NTNU student with a love for the outdoors and an active lifestyle. Known for her connection to the skiing community through her partner, cross-country skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, she’s a natural fit as an ambassador for Dale of Norway. Pernille’s hands-on involvement in the design of the championship sweater reflects her passion for both style and function, as she collaborated on choices around colors, fit, and the overall design.
Mushaga Bakenga is a Norwegian-Congolese football player known for his performances both on and off the field. In 2023, he was named ‘Trønder of the Year’ for his dedication to promoting inclusion and diversity in his hometown of Trondheim. As a powerful role model, Bakenga’s advocacy against racism plays a key role in the Ski World Championship campaign, embodying the values of unity and equality that the Championchip stands for.
A Celebration of Diversity
The 2025 Ski World Championship is more than a sporting event – it's a platform for promoting diversity and inclusion. With the message "Vi er alle samme ulla" ("We are all cut from the same cloth"), Dale of Norway aims to highlight that, regardless of background, we are all part of a larger community.
The championship sweater symbolizes this sense of community and the belief that each of us can contribute to a more inclusive society. The 2025 Ski World Championship in Trondheim is also the first championship where women and men will receive equal prize money, and para-sports will be integrated into the event. These are important steps toward greater equality in sports.
– "The World Championships in Trondheim will be the largest sporting event in Norway in 15 years. It will also be the first international winter championship to have equal distances and equal prize money for both women and men, as well as a para-sport event as part of the competition," says Åge Skinstad, the championship director.
The Official Ski World Championship Sweater
If you look closely, you’ll notice details in the pattern inspired by the values of the championship and Trondheim's historical landmarks. The sweater symbolizes community and the belief that we all have a role to play in creating a more inclusive society.
Dale of Norway has a long tradition of designing and producing official championship sweaters. Since the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Dale of Norway has crafted official sweaters, while never forgetting that a championship is about much more than wool sweaters and performance on the track.
Official Olympic and World Championships sweaters since 1956.
Did you know we have made official sweaters for the national Norwegian ski team for every single Winter Olympics and World Ski Championships since 1956? These team sweaters have become iconic collector’s items.
With long, snowy winters, it’s no surprise skiing is the national Norwegian sport. Norwegians are said to be«born with skis on their feet». And since the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics these skis have been accompanied by a Dale sweater.
It has been a truly impressive row of legendary ski athletes wearing a Dale sweater.
From 1956 to today, we have made 18 Winter Olympic sweaters and countless World Championship sweaters. We have even made a team sweater for the US Alpine and Snowboard team: the still highly popular Vail Sweater.
Branding-wise, the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics and the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics stand out as the two most important events for Dale. In 2020 we made the Tokyo sweater, our first team sweater for a Summer Olympics since the 1992 Barcelona sweater.
These historical team sweaters serve as a continuous source of inspiration to us. Design details from team sweaters are often incorporated into new designs, keeping the Dale signature distinct and authentic. Sometimes we even re-launch the original design, such as the Cortina 1956 Sweater.
To celebrate more than six decades of official team sweaters, we have made an image parade with highlightsfrom the impressive row of legendary athletes wearing a Dale sweater. Take a look here.
